Director Tarantino to visit city

Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino is to come to an arts centre in Liverpool to answer questions after a special screening of his new film.

The Picturehouse at FACT in the city centre will host the cult filmmaker on 11 September, the same day it will show his new movie, Death Proof.

He is best-known for his 1994 Oscar-winning film Pulp Fiction and kung-fu style classic Kill Bill.

FACT director Mike Stubbs said it was a coup for Liverpool.

He said: "This event is a huge coup for Liverpool, in that Quentin Tarantino specifically asked to come here.

"FACT is a multi-art venue with a strong programme and the power to attract international artistic stars like Pipilotti Rist in 2008, and now a Hollywood megastar and cult icon like Quentin Tarantino".

In his new film, Kurt Russell plays stunt man Mike who uses his super-charged muscle car as a killing machine, only to find the tables turned on him by a group of tough, intelligent women.

The tickets go on sale at the box office from Thursday at midday.
