The ferry company hopes to resume fast craft sailings
Ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Merseyside have restarted, a month after a passenger vessel and a cargo ship collided on the River Mersey.

The service was suspended after Sea Express One collided with the Alaska Rainbow in thick fog on 3 February.

The Steam Packet Company is using the MV Ben-My-Chree vessel to sail between Douglas and the Twelve Quays terminal in Birkenhead on Merseyside.

The Ben-My-Chree will be used until the regular fast craft returns to service.

The weekend sailings will depart from Douglas at 0800 GMT and the return journey will leave Birkenhead at 1400 GMT.

Free coach transfers will be offered between Pier Head and Twelve Quays for foot passengers.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) is currently investigating the collision, which happened near the Alfred Dock in Liverpool.
