Bradley also corrected Des O'Connor's pronunciation |
An 11-year-old boy from Merseyside has out thought the hostess of the teatime quiz show Countdown. Bradley Cates, 11, from Southport, put numbers wizard Carol Vorderman to shame by correctly answering a maths question which she failed to work out.
The youngster says he enjoys Scrabble, quizzes, sports and computers - and wants to be an accountant.
Bradley successfully used the numbers two, four, five, nine, 10 and 100 to make 566.
Ms Vorderman said: "Bradley never stops smiling. He looks like an angel.
"Des [O'Connor] and I loved him on sight, but when I asked him if he wanted one of Des' records as a present he shouted 'no'. It was very funny."

The schoolboy even corrected host Des O'Connor on his pronunciation of gllideyon, an anagram of yodelling, during a teatime teaser game in the advert break.
Bradley's mother, Caroline Wood, 36, said: "He did really, really well. Des was really good with him. It was funny when he worked out the sum which Carol didn't get."
Viewers will be able to see Bradley's skill on Tuesday's show.
Des O'Connor, 75, took over as the third presenter of the Channel 4 show, famous for its clock, after Des Lynam quit because of the commute.
