Cricketing legend Ian Botham has been presented with an honorary doctorate of letters from the University of Chester. The ex-England cricketer, who was born in Heswall, Merseyside, was awarded the doctorate for his charity work.
He has raised more than �8.5m for children with leukaemia, much of it through his long-distance walks.
University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Wheeler, said: "He is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through determination and perseverance."
The ceremony was held at Chester Cathedral.
