The Open runs for four days
A record number of people are using public transport in Wirral as the crowds continue to pour into Hoylake for the Open Championship.

More than 15,000 of the 49,000 fans at Royal Liverpool on Friday travelled to the course on Merseyrail's Wirral Line.

Merseytravel said it was the largest number of passengers ever to use the line in one day.

On Thursday about 10,000 people used the line, which usually carries about 527 people into Hoylake every day.

A spokesman said the transport network was continuing to run smoothly and the operation for getting people to the Open was proving a success.
