The director of a boys' school choir has been charged with 15 counts of making and eight counts of possessing child pornography. Keith Knowles, 37, of Aigburth, runs the Saint Francis Xavier College Boys' Choir in Woolton, Liverpool.
The choir sang twice for the previous Pope and were in the charts with the official song for the 2004 European Championships, All Together Now.
He is due to appear before Liverpool magistrates on 18 April.
Mr Knowles has been suspended from the post since his arrest last December.
The choir, set up by Mr Knowles in 1994, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the first choir to sing for a service in all 49 cathedrals in England and Wales.
It has toured several countries in the last six years and performed for a private audience at the Vatican in 1999.
