1,000 offer for Beckham bathrobe
England captain David Beckham
The hotel refused to sell the captain's robe
A Japanese David Beckham fan offered to pay 1,000 for the bathrobe worn by his idol in a Liverpool hotel room.

The fan begged staff at the Radisson SAS hotel for the robe he wore before the England-Uruguay match on Wednesday, but they refused to give it to him.

The England captain spent three nights at the hotel before the international friendly played at Anfield.

Hotel manager Geir Tonnessen said: "We have a duty to respect the privacy of all our guests."

He added: "It's crazy to think someone would pay so much for a bathrobe, just because a star like David Beckham has worn it.

"The request came out of the blue but we had to say no, we just wouldn't do that sort of thing."
