A digital walking guide is being launched in Liverpool. The two-hour audio guide is thought to be the first on-street walking guide in the UK.
It will be available in seven languages and teach visitors about the city's famous buildings and people, such as The Beatles.
The technology works by triggering DVDs within panels installed at the attractions and should be operational from January 2006.
'Fascinating history'
It is part of a �1m campaign to improve street signage and heritage plaques ahead of the city's Capital of Culture 2008 celebrations.
Prof Drummond Bone, chairman of the Liverpool Culture Company, said: "Liverpool is blessed with a fascinating history with its architecture and people.
"This digital guide is a brilliant way to tap into the city's heritage and take advantage of the fact that the city is a sheer joy to walk around."
Among the famous buildings on the tour are the neoclassical St George's Hall, The Cavern Club and the Three Graces - The Liver, Port of Liverpool and Cunard buildings on the waterfront.
