Swan gives rescuers the runaround
The captured swan with Derek Hampson from the RSPCA
It has taken three months to capture the swan
A sick swan which has been chased by RSPCA officers for three months has finally been caught.

The bird, at Central Park lake in Wallasey, Merseyside, has had fishing wire wrapped around his bill since December last year.

But RSPCA officers have been unable to catch the swan to cut away the wire and treat its injuries.

On Wednesday he was finally caught. It is hoped he can be back in the lake in time for the breeding season.

Derek Hampson, of the RSPCA, said: "I come seven times a week to try to catch him. I usually have a tendency to fall over in the lake, trying to catch him, and getting wet."
