Pupils spent two years working on the project |
Suggestions from children for improving road safety on their routes to school are to be adopted by a city council. Pupils from 15 primary schools in north Liverpool have spent the last two years identifying the potential hazards they face on their daily journeys.
Liverpool City Council said the project had highlighted important issues that could save lives of pedestrians.
"Our Walk to School" will be presented on giant maps and in a film at Liverpool Maritime Museum on Friday.
The authority's road safety team has allocated funding to turn some of the children's ideas into reality.
A lack of pedestrian crossings, too many cars parked on pavements and high kerbs were some of the dangers identified.
Peter Millea, of Liverpool City Council, said: "Seeing road safety hazards through the eyes of children has highlighted many important issues and enabled the city council to implement new initiatives to protect pedestrians."
