Snake skin shoes, crocodile handbags and counterfeit watches were some of the unlikely items on display at Southport Air Show this weekend. HM Revenue and Customs were showing the goods as examples of prohibited items seized because they are protected by international agreement.
Officers were also giving advice about staying within limits when bringing back tobacco and alcohol from abroad.
The Southport Air Show was taking place on the sea front all weekend.
Linda Paul, Customs head of detection, said: "Whether it is a short business trip to France or a luxury cruise in exotic seas, travellers need to know what they can and cannot bring back into the UK.
"We have a very interesting display showing how smugglers try to beat customs officers but this is also an ideal opportunity for those about to depart on holiday to check their allowances before they travel."
