Coleen allegedly discarded the ring after a row |
People searching for a 25,000 ring reportedly thrown away by Wayne Rooney's fiance have been banned from a Merseyside squirrel reserve. The Sun newspaper reported Coleen McLoughlin had discarded the engagement ring at the Formby Point Nature Reserve near the couple's luxury home.
The 18-year-old is alleged to have dumped the ring after an argument over claims Rooney had been unfaithful.
Anyone disturbing the squirrels will be told to leave, the National Trust said.
Metal detectors 'banned'
Debbie Peers of the National Trust said she feared the rare red squirrels in the reserve would be harmed by treasure hunters trawling through the park.
"We really do not want people trampling through the woods and disturbing the squirrels," she said.
"Metal detectors are banned from the reserve anyway and we will enforce this.
"Anybody who is seen disturbing the squirrels will be asked to leave."
About 300 red squirrels live at the nature reserve.
