Plans detailing road layout changes in and around Liverpool city centre go on display on Tuesday. The scheme is part of a 73m package which aims to improve Castle Street, Churchill Way flyover, Dale Street, Victoria Street and public transport.
Dave Boyer, from Liverpool Council, says the scheme will make the city more accessible ahead of its status as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
The proposals are on display at Liverpool Town Hall until Wednesday.
The plans also involve a major upgrade of Derby Square.
Highways manager Mr Boyer said: "The majority of the works will be completed by 2008. It is very important the city is looking right for that year."
However, the council is warning drivers there will be "some inconvenience over the coming months".
