The man behind Liverpool's successful Capital of Culture bid is to stay on to lead the city's 2008 celebrations. Sir Bob Scott will chair the team in charge of preparations.
Sir Bob, 59, was chief executive of the Capital of Culture bid company for the three year Liverpool put together its winning formula.
Despite suffering a heart attack months ago, Sir Bob was back at his desk within weeks in the run up to the announcement Liverpool had won.
Seen as the major force behind the success, Sir Bob Scott previously headed Manchester successful Commonwealth Games bid and its failed Olympic bid before coming to Liverpool.
A council spokesman said the position will be more honorary than official and will not be a full time role.
Sir Bob will oversee the city's efforts in an advisory capacity.
