Liverpool's proposed heritage site includes its waterfront |
Experts from across the UK are visiting Liverpool to see its nominated World Heritage Site. The city is Britain's only nomination for World Heritage Site status, which could see it ranked alongside the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
The Local Authority World Heritage Forum is meeting in the city on Monday, and will tour the proposed site.
It includes Liverpool's famous waterfront, the commercial district, the historic docks and its old warehouses.
Representatives for other heritages sites, including Stonehenge and Hadrian's Wall are among those visiting Liverpool.

Councillor Mike Storey, leader of Liverpool City Council, said: "I am sure the delegates will be impressed by our waterfront and the other elements of our World Heritage nomination.
"The forum meets at World Heritage sites around the country, and so their decision to hold this meeting in Liverpool is confirmation of the city's growing stature on the World Heritage scene."
The forum aims to raise awareness of World Heritage Site issues and promotes the needs of local authorities in site areas with the government.
Liverpool was nominated as a heritage site in January by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, which recommends the city to the United Nations.
