The fingerprints were taken for the star's gun licence |
A collection of Elvis's personal memorabilia, including a set of his fingerprints and his favourite motorbike, is to go on show in Liverpool. The display of the unusual artefacts has been set up by the team behind the city's Beatles Story museum.
It aims to celebrate the King's influence on the Beatles - John Lennon was known to be a fan - and in making Liverpool a music capital.
The temporary display - Fingerprints of Elvis - is believed to be the only dedicated exhibition of his personal memorabilia outside the USA.
The items have been collected over the past 25 years by Elvis's family, friends, bodyguards and those who worked with him.
The actual fingerprints on display were taken for the star's gun licence and were bought by a private collector before being brought to England.
The Harley Davidson was Elvis's last motorbike |
Visitors can also see Elvis's 1976 Harley Davidson - thought to be his last and favourite motorbike - which he often had shipped from Memphis to California to ride.
Other displays include stage costumes, guitars, army insignia and law enforcement badges belonging to Elvis.
The guided audio tour at the Albert Dock exhibition is narrated by Elvis's stepbrother, David Stanley.
He said: "It is amazing to see these exhibits that actually belonged to him, you get a true sense of the individual - the most popular person ever - and the impact he had on society and music in the 20th Century.
"For me it will be like going back home to Graceland".
The exhibitions opens on Saturday.
