Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old boy. Johnny Delaney, 14, was found with serious head injuries in a field close to the junction of Lydden and New Grosvenor Roads in Ellesmere Port at 1750 BST. He was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The teenager, who lived with an Irish travelling community in Liverpool, had been visiting friends in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
Two 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were due to appear before Chester youth court later.
Three other boys have been released without charge.
On Thursday, Johnny's family paid tribute to their "fun-loving" boy.
His aunt, Ann Gavin, said: "He was not at all aggressive and never went looking for trouble.
"He never touched alcohol, cigarettes or anything like that.
"Johnny was a fun-loving, very happy lad. He was a wonderful boy. We'll miss him."
Following the assault the victim was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he died a short time later.
