The FACT building opened in February |
Parts of a prestigious new 10m arts centre in Liverpool have been closed because of structural problems. Contractors were carrying out tests on Friday at the FACT (Film, Art and Creative Technology) centre, to find out why tiles fell in one of its cinemas.
The problems were discovered on Thursday evening when three tiles dropped from the ceiling in cinema three.
It comes less than two months after the centre opened in Wood Street, in a blaze of publicity.
It is the first arts centre to be built in the city for more than 60 years.
All three cinemas have been temporarily closed, but the rest of the modern, glass-fronted building, remains open.
