Probe into Bellamy clash dropped

A clash between footballer Craig Bellamy and a supporter who ran on to the pitch during the Manchester derby is no longer being probed by police.

The striker appeared to shove a man who ran onto the Old Trafford pitch as Manchester City restarted Sunday's agme after Michael Owen's late winning goal.

Greater Manchester Police said it had received "no complaints" and officers were "not investigating the matter."

But Joseph Clarke, 21, of Chorley, has been charged over invading the pitch.

He is due before Trafford Magistrates on 30 September.

Neither Mr Clarke nor Bellamy, a Welsh international forward, made a complaint to police about the clash.
