Snowfall is causing problems for people travelling by road, rail or air in Greater Manchester. Both runways at Manchester Airport are open but passengers have been told to expect cancellations and significant delays to flights to UK destinations. Several roads have been closed in the region, including Snake Pass at High Peak, the A62 at Delph and the A635 Greenfield Road at Mossley. Drivers are being warned many more roads may be closed by Tuesday morning. Motorists using the M6, the M60 and the M62 are being urged to take care. Two lanes of the M62 were closed overnight westbound between junctions 22 and 21 at Milnrow, but reopened in time for the rush hour. Blackstone Edge Road at Littleborough and Huddersfield Road at Milnrow were closed on Monday evening. More snow is forecast and drivers are being advised to stay at home unless their journeys are necessary. Some schools across Greater Manchester remained closed on Monday and pupils were told to stay at home. Two schools were closed in Bury, one in Salford and one in Rochdale as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
