Mr Khan appeared at court to confirm his name and address

Mr Khan, 20, who had been warned he faced arrest if he did not attend, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the hearing.

Magistrates have adjourned the case for trial until 7 January 2008.

The boxer is accused of driving at 140mph on the M62 near Rochdale last New Year's Eve and of failing to produce a driving licence.

Mr Khan is also charged with failing to produce an insurance certificate.
