Boy bailed over hoax phone call
A teenage boy has been arrested after police received a hoax call that a man had been shot dead in Manchester.

Officers were sent to Boggart Hole Clough in New Moston after receiving an anonymous call that shots had been fired on Sunday evening.

Following an extensive search of the location no-one was found and a 14-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of wasting police time.

He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Insp Stephen Porter said: "These are not jokes or pranks. The police have to take these reports seriously until we can establish them to be false.

"This can waste massive amounts of time and resources that should be put to use providing the best service to our communities."
