Five held over armed bank robbery
Dawn raids in Leigh
More than 140 officers were involved in the raids
Five people have been arrested in dawn raids carried out in connection with an armed bank robbery in which a police officer was shot in the face.

The robbers fired at a police van as they made their getaway from Barclays Bank in Horwich, Bolton, in November.

Three men aged 18, 19 and 25 are being held on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Another man and a woman were arrested on unrelated matters. More than 140 officers were involved in the raids.

Police also recovered what are believed to be two firearms.

Searches at the addresses, in the Westleigh area of Leigh, Greater Manchester, were continuing on Monday morning.

Detectives said the investigation was "very much ongoing" and said they needed people to come forward if they had information.
