A new website has been launched to help silver surfers, housebound and disabled people get online. It grew from Stockport Creative Writing group which was formed to help the over 50s in creative writing and poetry.
But the group found that many requests to join came from housebound and disabled people who could not attend its meetings so Createwrt.net was born.
The site offers podcasts and audio streaming as well as special software for the partially sighted.
Easy access
Webmaster Brian Evans said interest in the site was booming because it was simple to use.
"We have created a site where nobody is left out because of their disability," he said.
Mr Evans, who first created a site for the local Expert Patients project, has scoured the globe for the right software.
The voice reader software for blind people has come from a Canadian company while other software has come from Australia.
Mr Evans said the site - which has been praised by Stockport Council officials - has easy access and provides instant audio streaming without downloads or special programmes.
