Even cars with 'hidden' systems are targeted by thieves
Greater Manchester Police say the theft of satelite navigation systems from cars has increased by more than 500%.

An average of 15 a day are taken from vehicles in the county and 1,250 have been taken since the start of the year.

Thieves even target cars with sucker marks on the windscreen, which indicate that the systems have been taken out.

Greater Manchester Police say thieves realise that many drivers just hide the equipment in the glove box or under a seat when they leave their cars.

A total of 369 thefts have been reported in March to date, compared to just 255 over a seven-month period last year.

Police say motorists must remove the systems when they leave their cars, and are urging them to take the support cradle out and wipe away obvious suction marks.

They can also be marked with a postcode, or car registration number.
