The achievements of boxer Ricky Hatton will be marked on Wednesday with a civic reception in his home town. The 26-year-old won the IBF Light Welterweight title last month in a victory over Kostya Tszyu at the Manchester Evening News Arena.
His success in the ring will be acknowledged with a reception at Hyde Town Hall.
Hatton will be presented with awards by the local mayor and the leader of Tameside Council.
There will also be a video presentation of his life and sporting success before he meets local schoolchildren and youngsters from local boxing clubs.
