Jewellery stolen from footballer
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo returned home on about 22 November
Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has had jewellery worth about 30,000 stolen from his home.

The player's house in Woodford, Cheshire, was burgled while he was away playing for the Premiership team and the Portuguese national side.

The 20-year-old winger discovered the theft when he returned home last week.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said they were informed of the raid, but the victim had decided not to make a formal complaint.

Matter closed

A GMP spokeswoman said the matter was closed and the investigation had ended.

The footballer, who is reported to earn more than 50,000 a week, played in a match at the club's Old Trafford stadium on 6 November and is thought to have left the following day to play for Portugal against Croatia on 12 November.

He also took part in a match against Northern Ireland in Belfast on 15 November before flying back to England to play in United's clash against Charlton on 19 November.

It is believed he returned to his home on about 22 November when he reported the burglary to police.

The raiders escaped with a collection of jewellery, thought to include Cartier watches.
