Pupils discuss anti-bully tactics

Twelve schools are taking part in the anti-bullying scheme
Children and staff from schools across Manchester are meeting to share tips from a successful anti-bullying scheme.

Teams of "playground buddies" from 12 schools are attending a convention in the city as part of anti-bullying week.

Under the scheme, older children act as buddies to younger pupils to provide help and support in the playground.

Councillor Jeff Smith, Manchester City Council's education spokesman, said it had proved successful in the schools which had adopted the policy.

"We have also seen how the ethos of the school has improved and how the schemes have helped younger children feel safer and happier in the playground," said Mr Smith.
