Manchester's bid to be the leading TV centre outside London has been boosted by independent companies following the BBC's proposed moves to the city. Hat Trick Productions, which makes BBC One's, Have I Got News For You and BBC Two's, The Kumars at No 42, opens an office in Manchester next month.
The company is one of several courted by North West Vision, which promotes film and TV in the region.
It follows Objective Productions which opened a Manchester office last month.
Alice Morrison, Chief Executive of North West Vision, said the opening of an office by Hat Trick was "fantastic news".
She said the BBC's announcement in December that three departments would move to Manchester, coupled with Liverpool being chosen as the European Capital of Culture, had increased the North West's profile as a media centre.
North West Vision was recently given �1m from the North West Development Agency to enable production companies in the area to expand and to entice businesses from other parts of Britain.
It is currently negotiating with several companies to open offices in the North West.
