Georgina Smith also plans to sue her daughter's alleged attacker |
A schoolgirl, 16, who allegedly beat another teenager unconscious in a "happy slap" attack is facing a private prosecution from the girl's mother. Becky Smith, 16, was left temporarily paralysed in the attack.
Georgina Smith, 39, of Blackley, Manchester, plans to prosecute the girl who was given a final reprimand - the juvenile equivalent of a caution.
Greater Manchester Police said on Tuesday it had acted on Crown Prosecution Service advice.

Becky also suffered a black eye, bruises and cuts while her ordeal was filmed by boys using a mobile phone.
The film was circulated to other pupils at Plant Hill school in Blackley.
Mrs Smith, who criticised the decision not to press charges, will also be suing for damages.
"I'm going to have to stand on my own two feet now and take out a private prosecution," she said.
"Hopefully the law will turn to our side.
"Rebecca has done nothing wrong and ended up in hospital. She is constantly looking over her shoulder."
