Firework accident blows roof off
Emergency repairs are being carried out on a house in Greater Manchester after an industrial firework exploded in a bedroom and blew apart the home.

Dean Kevill, 16, from Polefield Gardens in Prestwich, accidentally set fire to the device.

It exploded and lifted the roof off the property, severely damaging three upstairs rooms.

The blast meant the teenager and his family could not stay in their house on Wednesday night.

Dean's stepfather Mike Pearson said: "There's quite a bit of damage to building but they reckon it's repairable.

"It's a miracle he's alive and all that's all we're thankful for at the moment."
