Missing girl mystery unsolved
Shafilia Ahmed
Shafilia Ahmed mystery continues
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Cheshire teenager Shafilea Ahmed say they are no nearer to learning what has happened to her.

Despite extensive searches of wasteland around her home in Warrington, they have found no trace of the 17-year-old student.

Shafilea, from Liverpool Road in the Great Sankey area of Warrington, went missing on 11 September last year.

Police say the search of Warrington is now complete and several sightings have been ruled out.

Shafilea needs regular medical treatment, but hospitals and surgeries across the country have not reported treating anyone who matches her description.

Officers fear she may be dead and are anxious for new information.

Shafilea's parents, Iftikhar and Farzana, were arrested on suspicion of kidnap and then released on bail pending further inquiries.

Cheshire police have not launched a murder inquiry.
