Manchester's Concorde will be housed in a special viewing park |
Concorde fans will be given an early Christmas present when the retired supersonic aircraft goes on public exhibition for the first time at Manchester Airport. Its appearance marks the airport's involvement in the centenary celebrations of 100 years of powered flight.
Concorde will be moved to a temporary site on a taxiway outside the airport's viewing park from December 13 to December 21.
The plane will then return to the apron over the winter before it moves to a purpose-built area within the viewing park in 2004.
Manchester's Concorde is one of four to remain in the UK - the remaining three have been given permanent homes overseas.
Manchester Airport General Manager, Peter Hampson, said: "The magic of Concorde is well known to all of us at Manchester.
"What better way is there to mark the centenary of powered flight than for the public to view the most famous aircraft of all time."
The seven supersonic jets in the fleet made their last commercial flights in November.
