More than 150 cleaners and porters at a Greater Manchester hospital are to take strike action in a dispute over pay. The workers at the Royal Bolton Hospital plan to stage two three-day strikes because they want the private firm which employs them to increase their wages in line with other UK hospitals.
The union Unison said its members would walk out at 0500 BST on 23 June as the night shift ends.
Unison said it wanted an improved pay deal from the workers' employer, ISS Mediclean, which has so far offered a 3.22% rise backdated to April.
A second three-day strike is due to take place from 30 June.
A spokesman for Bolton Hospitals NHS Trust said it was "concerned" by the action and would try to minimise any impact on patient care.
