People said they did not know much about the venues
Many Londoners do not have much detail about the 2012 Olympic Games but they do support it, a survey has shown.
The poll carried out by London Councils found more than half claim they lack information about the games and a third say they have no idea about the venues.
But 75% are pleased the capital is hosting the event and a third are interested in becoming volunteers.
London Councils is calling for a campaign to ensure Londoners are kept informed about the games' benefits.
The survey also found that a third are unsure what was meant by the term Olympic legacy.
'For all Londoners'
Chairman of London Councils, councillor Merrick Cockell, said: "It is an honour for the capital to host the 2012 Games, and I am delighted that the vast majority of Londoners feel the same way.
"The legacy from this historic event must be for all Londoners - not just those closest to the Olympic Park.
"Boroughs will be vital in delivering the legacy of the games and our research clearly shows a need for a London-wide legacy board."
