The MCC has agreed there will be no more than 12 floodlit matches a year |
Lord's cricket ground has used its new floodlights for the first time during a cricket match. The venue in St John's Wood, north-west London, had a switching on ceremony before the Middlesex v Kent Twenty20 game on Wednesday. Residents had concerns about the lights but the ground's owner, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), has agreed to no more than 12 floodlit matches a year. The MCC has also agreed there will be no concerts at the famous venue. The telescopic floodlights will also be used for the World Twenty20 tournament which begins next month. Andrew Mainz, chairman of the St John's Wood Society, discusses the use of floodlights
