Commuters face 24-hour strike

Members of the transport union RMT voted to take part in the strike

Tube workers will stage a 24-hour strike because of a row over bullying and intimidation.

Some 100 staff at seven stations in north and west London have decided to take action from 1859 BST.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) Union said London Underground (LU) has failed to take complaints seriously in the Willesden Green area.

Transport for London (TfL) said it would try to keep stations open and run the "best service possible".

A TfL spokeswoman said: "There are procedures in place to deal with these kinds of issues and we ask RMT to stop this unnecessary strike action and return to the negotiating table."

The RMT said staff at the Willesden Green station group are being bullied and intimidated.

A spokesman for the union said there were no current negotiations and it would be "very difficult" to stop the strike going ahead.

General secretary Bob Crow said "blatant bullying" was unacceptable and staff have had enough.

He said: "There has been a surge in complaints about the complete disregard of attendance and disciplinary procedures at this station group, but LU has so far buried its head in the sand."
