Shakilus murder accused in court

Shakilus Townsend was hit with a baseball bat and stabbed

Four teenagers, including a girl of 15, have appeared in court accused of murdering 16-year-old Shakilus Townsend in south London.

Shakilus, from Deptford, was beaten with a baseball bat and repeatedly stabbed in Thornton Heath on 3 July.

Tyrell Ellis, 18, of Thornton Heath, two youths, aged 17 and 16, and the girl, were remanded in custody by Sutton Magistrates.

One man, 22, has been bailed while a fifth youth was arrested on Thursday.

The defendants will next appear at the Old Bailey on 16 October.

The 22-year-old man was bailed to return to a south London police station next month.
