The Queen has formally opened the 86th Chelsea Flower Show. Her majesty was joined by a host of celebrities including TV and radio personality Chris Tarrant and ex-Beatles member Ringo Starr. The event is seen by many as the ultimate show in the gardening calendar with more than 150,000 visitors expected to attend. A cross between trade fair, horticultural competition and showbiz ball, some 600 exhibitors will be present. Visitors to the Chelsea flower show will also see a whole host of gardens produced by top designers. As a Chelsea resident, actress Felicity Kendal said she visits the show regularly. "It has become bigger and more impressive," she said. "It is like window shopping, very inspirational and traditional."
