A second person has been charged with murdering a teenage footballer who was shot dead in north-east London.

Etem Celebi, 17, was killed as he sat on a wall near his family home in Stoke Newington on 14 November.

Richard Harrison-Allen, 19, of Hackney, appeared before Highbury Corner Magistrates Court charged with murder and firearms offences.

A youth, 17, who appeared in court on Wednesday facing similar charges, was remanded in custody until 27 November.

He was charged with murder and possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Mr Harrison-Allen was remanded in custody until 3 March when he appears for plea and case management hearing at the Old Bailey.

Family's anguish

Etem was a semi-professional footballer who represented Leyton FC and attended Stoke Newington High School.

His family described their devastation in a statement released by Scotland Yard.

"Words can't express how terrible it is for his family and beyond," they said.

"The whole neighbourhood is in tears and are struggling to come to terms with the enormity of what has happened."

Etem's mother Hayriye described him as an "international boy" who loved all cultures and all people.

His father, Kemal, added: "People love me because I was his dad, and loved him because he was my son."

The family called for "all communities" to work together with the police and government to tackle gun crime.
