The interim order given at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court, south-east London, bans him on race day from the boroughs the event goes through.

Cornelius Horan agreed to stay away from the showpiece event on 22 April.

The former priest, who turns 60 on race day, could be jailed for up to five years if he breaches the order.

After the hearing, Horan - dressed in his trademark orange kilt, green waistcoat and socks - said he would be spending the day having "a quiet drink with friends".

"I am not going to go and interrupt a sport event again," he said. "But I will go on proclaiming the message of the bible."

Suspended sentence

Horan, originally from County Kerry, was given a 12-month suspended sentence for pushing Brazilian runner Vanderlei De Lima off the road in August 2004.

He also ran onto the track at the Silverstone Grand Prix in 2003, dodging Formula One cars travelling at 200mph.

A Southwark Council spokesman said the order, which ends on 8 June, was necessary "to protect the safety of members of the public and competitors".
