It is believed the keys to Wembley could be handed over on Friday |
Wembley Stadium is one step nearer to completion with the issuing of a safety certificate for its fire alarms. The certificate came after two days of successful testing of the 757m stadium's fire alarm systems.
The development means the FA Cup final is on course to be staged at Wembley in May. Consumer goods such as soap and drinks have already been delivered.
It is understood builders Multiplex could hand over the keys to the Football Association on Friday.
A community day - originally scheduled for last weekend - will take place on 17 March.
Some 60,000 local residents are expected to attend, enabling organisers to test turnstiles, escalators and other facilities.
The second test event will be an England Under-21 match, to be held one week later.
Singer George Michael will play the first concert at the stadium on 9 June.
