Rail firm Network Rail is to be sentenced next month for blunders which led to the Paddington train crash in which 31 people were killed. Mr Justice Bean told Blackfriars Crown Court the hearing would last two days.
Four hundred people were also injured when a Thames Trains service collided with a Great Western express at Ladbroke Grove in west London in 1999.
Network Rail faces an unlimited fine after admitting breaching safety at an earlier hearing.
Rail operator Thames Trains was fined �2m for the crash in April 2004.
'Terrible event'
Network Rail has been listed in the court documents, despite not being formed until three years after the accident.
Mr Justice Bean said he would first examine documents and mitigation as well as statements from victims and relatives before sentencing took place.
A Network Rail spokesman said in a statement in October: "The Ladbroke Grove tragedy was a terrible event for everyone involved.
"Lessons have been learned and the rail industry has changed enormously for the better over the past seven years."
