More than 3,000 have signed the couple's petition |
Ken Livingstone is to be asked what he intends to do about bus passengers playing music on mobile phones. More than 3,000 people have signed an online petition, set up by two disgruntled commuters, calling for London's buses to be music-free.
London Assembly member Valerie Shawcross, who will quiz the mayor, wants notices on buses prohibiting the playing music out loud.
But Transport for London (TfL) has said such a ban would be unenforceable.
'Anti-social behaviour'
"People are disturbed by noise nuisance on buses," she said.
"We want to see posters and information on the buses themselves making it clear that Transport for London do disapprove of music being played out loud."
The online campaign was set up by Tom Wright and girlfriend Valeria Martinelli, from Leyton, east London, who say loud music was a form of anti-social behaviour.
However, some bus drivers are against a ban fearing they will be handed the responsibility of enforcement.
"Drivers are being asked to become policemen which could potentially leave them vulnerable to assault," said Jim Buckley, of the Transport and General Workers' Union.
