Memories of more than 50,000 Holocaust survivors are being made available to schoolchildren on an interactive DVD. The first schools-specific use of a Steven Spielberg project to record the testimonies of Holocaust survivors is being launched at Pimlico School.
It comes 60 years after the first Nazi criminals were hanged following the Nuremberg war trials.
Students can learn about the Holocaust by engaging with survivors' testimonies via interactive technology.
The Shoah Foundation Institute set up by film director Spielberg, has collected stories of survivors including Jews, homosexuals, gypsies and political prisoners.
It has worked with the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET) to produce Recollections: Eyewitnesses Remember The Holocaust.
It allows students to learn about Hitler's "final solution" - in which six million people were killed - through survivor testimony and interactive technology.
Karen Pollock, the chief executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said: "Recollections is a ground-breaking resource that will ensure that Holocaust education can continue to engage the next generation of students in the UK, even when survivors are no longer with us.
"For almost a decade, HET has facilitated the visit of survivors to schools.
"But as survivors grow frailer, it will become increasingly difficult to meet the demand from schools for survivors to speak directly to students."
