Jason Gayle-Bent was stabbed in the heart |
Five youths have been arrested over the fatal stabbing of a man yards from his front door in south-east London. The youths, aged 16 to 17 years old, are being questioned about the murder of Jason Gayle-Bent, 29, on Sunday.
He was sitting on a wall in New Cross when a group of youths on bikes rode up to him. Police said one pulled out a gun and fired shots.
The group dispersed and police do not know exactly what happened next, but Mr Gayle-Bent was stabbed in the heart.
The youths are being questioned at south London police stations.
Shortly after the attack on Mr Gayle-Bent, a large group of youths on bicycles fired a shot into the air near the Community Action Centre in Grove Street, Deptford.
They chased a man who fled the centre on a moped, crashed it, then tried to run off.
The youths caught up with him at a doorway of an address in Deptford Wharf, where he was assaulted and stabbed.
He was treated in hospital and has since been allowed home.
Police are investigating whether the two attacks were linked.
