Roundhouse reopens after facelift
Camden Roundhouse
The theatre has played host to many famous acts
One of London's most historic theatres will reopen on Thursday after a 29.7m facelift.

The Roundhouse Theatre played host to rock bands like The Rolling Stones and The Doors in the 1960s and 1970s.

The venue in Camden, north London, closed in 1983 due to financial problems, but continued to host shows on an intermittent basis.

The former railway shed can now accommodate 1,700 seated guests and 3,300 people standing.

It will also feature a studio theatre, seating 150 people.

A series of rehearsal rooms, recording studios and editing suites will also be available to young people to help them develop media skills.

The multi-million pound redevelopment was spearheaded by the Norman Trust, which bought the building in 1996 and helped raise 27.2m from contributors including the Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The landmark venue will open with physical theatre spectacular Fuerzabruta, a new show from the creators of De La Guarda.
