London faces competition from Moscow, Paris, New York and Madrid

A government bill, designed to ensure London can fulfil its bid promises, proposes new powers for Mayor Ken Livingstone over the transport network.

It will also introduce legal safeguards for Olympic logos, control advertising and street trading around venues, and outlaw ticket touting for the games.

The winning city is expected to be announced on 6 July.

Other proposals in the bill include setting up an Olympic Delivery Authority to manage the government's interest in the project and oversee public money going into the venues.

It would also ensure transport structures were ready on time and on budget.
