Londoners' 'guilt' over homeless
Homeless persons
St Mungo's says we are all vulnerable to homelessness
One in 10 Londoners said they feel guilt when they see a homeless person on the street, according to a survey.

Homeless charity St Mungo's found that 39% said they would be more willing to give money during bad weather.

The study was commissioned to show people's feelings towards the homeless in the run up to Christmas.

St Mungo's housing director David Devoy said: "The next time you see a homeless person on the street you need to realise that one day it could be you."

A majority of those surveyed (65%) said safety and the fear of attack would be their top concern if they were made homeless.

Half of those quizzed (52%) said they did not give money to street beggars.

The report was based on a survey of 2,374 people across the country.
