Pay-as-you-go car club extended
Car club member gets into car
The car share scheme is suited for shopping or DIY trips
A car club which gives members access to pay-as-you-go vehicles is being extended across London.

Drivers pay 160 a year and a further charge each time they use the Urbigo cars. New sites have been set up in Waterloo, Euston and Mayfair.

They are designed for journeys difficult to make on public transport or by foot, like shopping or DIY trips.

The scheme, aimed at reducing congestion and motoring costs, already runs in Sutton, Southwark and Deptford.

To book, members telephone ahead or book on the internet and are allocated a nearby vehicle.

A personal key fob is used to bleep the car at the start and the end of the journey to record each member's usage.
